Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-06-01
Last updated: 2026-06-01

This Privacy Policy describes how the Variance mobile app ("Variance," "the app," "we," "us," or "our") handles information. Variance is published by rooHaHa software ("the developer").

Summary

Variance is a local-first poker session tracker. All session data you enter stays on your device. We do not operate any servers, we do not have user accounts, and we do not collect, transmit, store, sell, or share your poker data with anyone.

Information Variance stores on your device

When you use Variance, the app stores the following information locally on your device in a SQLite database:

This information never leaves your device unless you choose to export or back it up yourself (for example, using the iOS Files app, iCloud Drive, or by sharing an exported file). The developer cannot access this information.

Information the developer collects

The developer does not collect any personal information, usage analytics, crash reports, device identifiers, or other data from you through the app.

Third-party services

Variance uses a small number of third-party services that may collect information independently of the app. These are described below.

Apple App Store and Google Play

When you download Variance and when you make an in-app purchase, Apple or Google processes the transaction and may collect information according to their own privacy policies:

The developer receives only aggregate, anonymized sales and download reports from Apple and Google. The developer does not receive your name, email address, payment details, or device identifiers.

Advertising (free version only)

The free version of Variance displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect and process information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, general location (derived from IP), device type, operating system version, and ad interaction events. This data is used by Google to deliver ads, prevent fraud, and measure ad performance.

You can review Google's advertising privacy practices here:

You can limit ad personalization on your device:

If you purchase the "Remove Ads" in-app purchase, the AdMob SDK is no longer loaded by the app and does not collect data from your device.

Children's privacy

Variance is not directed to children under the age of 17 and is rated accordingly. The developer does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Your control over your data

Because all session data is stored locally on your device, you control it completely:

The developer has no copy of your data and cannot restore it for you.

Security

Your session data is stored on your device using the operating system's standard application storage. The security of this data depends primarily on the security of your device (passcode, biometric lock, OS-level encryption). The developer recommends enabling a device passcode and keeping your operating system up to date.

Changes to this policy

The developer may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, by an in-app notice. Continued use of Variance after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
